Iskaldiër is the second son of the late emperor of Kazalya. After his father made several wrong calls concerning bandits and activities from the Order of Ashelia in the northern part of the empire, Iskaldiër decided that the man was too old to continue his rule. With his brother still ill, he stepped up and declared himself to be the ruler, only to be denied by the circle of sages. This led Iskaldier to instigate the Great Kazlayan civil war.
His first attempt to overthrow his father ended in failure. He sailed north to gather support from the nobles over there who were displeased with his fathers earlier mistakes and the way how the provinces around the northern border were collapsing.
Two days before the assassination of the emperor he sailed back towards the Kazalyan mainland and landed in Velaa. The battle raged on for almost a week untill the news about the emperor reached both camps. Most of the imperial army joined the loyalists, knowing that their leader had perished at the hands of one he trusted.
Currently he is gaining ground and preparing to march to the capital.
